The International Club is open to all NATO ID holders and spouses. We are an inclusive, educational, and social organization that helps people build community and learn about other cultures while living in the Tri-Border Area. We meet monthly for Coffee & Culture Mornings to share national culture, food, and friendship. Member volunteers run activity clubs, organize trips and workshops, and host fundraisers to benefit the NATO community.
We understand the unique challenges and opportunities of living abroad while supporting NATO service members. In the International Club, you will find an inspiring, resilient, and welcoming community of women making the most of their time abroad. If you're looking for ways to build a home away from home, this is it. You belong here, and we're saving you a seat.
The Club season runs from September through June, but we accept new members year-round. Memberships must be renewed annually for a fee of €25, which grants you access to the International Club's:
Monthly newsletter & members-only Facebook group
Discounts & early access to Coffee & Culture Mornings, trips, and workshops

In addition to our monthly Club-wide events, interest-based activity clubs meet regularly to foster strong connections with people who enjoy the same things you do. From English, French, and Italian conversation clubs, to cooking, reading, dog walking, and more, you can find 'your people' in the International Club. Our list of 2025/2026 active clubs is still being finalized. More details will be shared at the September Coffee & Culture Morning. If you have questions before then or are interested in starting an activity club, contact activity.jfcbic@gmail.com.
In 1969, only two years after the foundation of HQ Allied Forces Central Europe (HQ AFCENT) here in Brunssum, a group of spouses started the AFCent Ladies Club. This Club fulfilled a similar purpose as what our Club strives to provide today: international friendship and entertainment for spouses and charitable activities within the community and beyond. The Club raised funds, organized Ladies' Tea, tours in the area, and activities like Bridge Club, Antiques Club, Tennis Club, Language Classes, and many more.
