• Belgium produces more than 220,000 tons of chocolate per annum. Belgians are very proud of their chocolate; it's announced to be the World's best. 

• Robert Cailliau, co-inventor of the World Wide Web, is a Belgian. He is one to thank we have internet. 

• There are more than 300 breweries in Belgium, where more than 1000 different types of beer are brewed. Every single one of those beers has a matching glass. On average, Belgians drink 68 liters of beer each year. UNESCO inscribed Belgian beer culture on their list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

• There are more than 30 different waffle types in Belgium; the most popular ones are Brussels and Liege waffles.

• There is no Belgian language. Official languages are Dutch, French, and German.

• The national symbol is a urinating little boy - Manneken Pis in Brussels.

• Belgians invented "French" fries. (There's an ongoing dispute with French concerning this matter)

• Belgians are crazy about soccer. Their national team is called the Red Devils. The whole country turns red when there are major soccer events. 

• Belgium has the smallest city in the World - Durbuy. Its population is just about 500. 

• Belgium holds the world record for the longest period without a government. 2019-2020 it took 652 days to form a government because the political views differ in Flanders and Wallonia. The good thing is the country can actually function without a government.
